The Never Ending Battle to Strive for Happiness
May 31

A Bitter End...

Spaces has made blogging very difficult for me to continue...

If your interested as to where I've gone to continue my blogging, leave a comment asking about my whereabouts...

Spaces has failed me yet again and this time I'm not taking its crap...sad because I"ve put in time into this space, and met some really cool people here...

:(

Cheers.

Attack of the Killer Birds

Kicking it back with one my my best buddies Sambo and his super babe magnet dog Vegas - a Doberman.

So big - So beautiful.

We're walking the dog along Queen street, Downtown, and I'm getting hungry. One of my favortie eats when I'm in the city is a lil place called Burito Boysz - Tastiest burito and priced just right. So as we're walking towards our destination, I decided to make a pit stop and get a Poutine...as I'm ordering Sam takes Vegas to a bench near Nathan Phillip Square - I get my Gravy heavy Poutine and make my way to the bench...I'm walking, enjoying the thought of salty cheese exciting my taste buds and then the smooth gravy washing it all off and flowing down my throat...mmmmm...

And all of a sudden

Sam yells 'Watch Out!'

As I duck a gang of seaguls take multipule jabs at my poutine! One even hit my head in hopes that I drop my poutine!
Fcuk I hate Seaguls! Hate them with a passion! Greedy greedy bastards!

Needless to say I did enjoy my Poutine...

While we were sitting Sam noticed a display behind us of Cancer Survivor Patients and there was this one wall - about 20 pictures - all of them women - topless - with one breast missing with a wicked scar where the breast used to be. And in the centre, a picture with all of them togather showing off their one breast-ness...creepy...
As we sat there staring at this wall of creepyness, we both came up with a creepy senerio where One breast women would survive some genetic outbreak and after 2-3 generations it would become the norm...don't ask me why we thought this - it just seemed fitting at the time, and alot more detailed/thought provoking ;)

The Rain Strokes While Assassin Hides In My Pocket

Yesterday while walking home from work, I was being showered by nature...I hate rain. But yesterday I realized that I love the rain only when I'm listening to The Strokes. So much fun. The only thing that I was worried about was my novel that I'm glued to being wet.

Prayers for the Assassin.
By Robert Ferrigno.

If you love thrillers then this is for you! I'm just happy that there is a sequel to this cause I'm gonna be done this novel in the next few days. How can you not be interested in a novel where after the title it states: Pledge allegiance to the flag of the Islamic Republic of America. Even the Prologue is great, though its two and half pages :P

Gotta go now and do 2 weeks worth of laundry.

Score! Times 2?

So today during my lunch hour - actaully its only 1/2 hours...so during my half hour lunch break I was hungry for a burger. Koryo is this Korea/American - I think - fast food joint that I'm begining to like. Shreaded Beef dipped in this To Die For sweet sauce coupled with cabbage & onions drizzeled with this orange sauce that I had mistaken for cheese...so damn good...made right before your eyes. They even have flames shoot up for your viewing pleasure!

So the girl at the register was taking my oder:

Can I help you?

Yes you can.*pause*
I tried to be funny It didn't work...she gave me a blank stare...
Riiight, yes I would like your Beef burger and a Ginger Ale, please.

Fries with that?

No...

That will be $5.63.

I gave her $10.03...she gives me back $9.40 - I was puzzeled...I just got a burger and a drink for 60 cents. SCORE!
I wanted to be the nice customer and point out her mistake, but all I could think of was the ugly blank stare she gave me.
No regrets there.

So a couple of days ago I was honked at by a black mercedes. I'm assumig its a female driver along with her a female passenger. I was honked at, not once, but 3 times...I can only guess one person that I know who drives that car, but has absolutely no reason to be in my neighbourhood...first I was like 'Yea I'm the man' and then I kinda felt creeped out, now I'm just don't know what to think.

:P

Look Who's Back

Greeting ladies and Gents,

After a long break, I have decided to come back and start blogging again. It is amazing how much time as past since I last posted. You guys missed out, I'm sorry - it won't happen again :P

To make up for lost time, I'll just write (a lot) to get the ball rolling.

So where to begin?

I think I will begin with a question.

Q: why is it that EVERY girl that takes a picture of themselves have this urge to pout out their lips?

I find it so interesting...

~

Gone are the days of prime time television...

So lately I've been asked to watch all sorts of television shows - but the problem is that I don't watch televsion, primarily because all the shows that are on don't revolve around my schedule...so instead I just watch it online now. SO I was getting all caught up with House *starting from season one* After finishing that I started-finished Grey's Anatomy (really good). I'm kinda watching One Tree Hill almost done season one.

What has really caught me off guard is that I'm loving Japanese Anime.  The site that I go to watch television shows has an Anime section  I clicked on it and it gives you an intense list of Animes...I did the whole Inee-Menieee-Mynee-Moe routine and Bleach was it...I watched 160 episodes in less than one month...So good!. Bankai!

Ever since Bleach I've seen:
Chobits
Samurai  Cahmploo
Gundam
Naruto
Rurouni Kenshin
Cowboy Bebop

Needless to say it is growing on me... :D

~

I dunno about you guys but people are visiting my space by clicking from a Google search! I know only one other person who has had this happen (Sofiee)
And like what she said - its flattering...when I click on the link that brought them to me, I get to see what they were searching...and some of the people out there are searching for weird things - isn't it fitting that I had to be a hit in the search :P

A couple of examples that have been 'memorable'

1. Mother and Daughter Making Out
2. How to Remove Bubble Gum Off a Shirt
3. Why are Pita Puffs So Good
4. How to Remove Your Wisdom Teeth

These are just a few that I can remember...

~

So in my last entry I had mention that I lost the phone that I had just recently got - well I got that phone back again :) - Even though its not he original phone that I had bought, I still end up with the phone that I wanted so I guess it just all worked out for the best...Its such a great phone.

~
March 23

BAH!

I got a new cell phone recently and it 'popped' out of my pocket <its the only reasonable explanation I can think of> and someone tooks it...they tooks my precious!

It was a great phone...Sony Ericsson Z710...it was my baby...I spent countless number of hours learning and personalizing it and *BAM* in a matter of 5 mins it was gone...*sigh*

Why can't ppl just return it...call my house - its under HOME - just like anyone elses...and say I found your cell please come and pick it up...why can't ppl understand the importance of numbers that ppl carry with them?

I'm pretty sad with the whole situation...not just loosing it - but my ability of being responsible for it...

ANyways...if you guys want to donate some money towards my phone I will be greatful - SO greatful I will come visit you and Personally thank you...

cheers...

I dunno if you guys have noticed this but everything, and I mean everything from cars to condo's...everything it seems is inspired by the Europeans and why? Why must everything be European Inspired? Who inspires the Europeans? Bah!

Please shed some light :)

Just add Maple

This morning I had this insane craving for something sweet - which is weird cause I was sipping on a half litre of Black Cherry Vanilla Coke yesterday for the majority of the afternoon. :)~

So the first thing that comes to mind is cereal - add more sugar and !presto! craving solved...right?

no.

I needed something more...I needed somthing that said: I need more than just sugar...but what? what was that 'more than just sugar'? I thought of brown sugar - chocolate chips...maybe it wasn't more sugar that I was after. Could it be something salty...butter? ew. Hot sauce perhaps? not with cereal. What was I after?

It was Maple Syrup. That golden brown sticky goodness.

3 - 4 cups of Rice Krispeys...add 2 teaspoons of sugar and a 3.5 second swirl with maple syrup...3.5 seconds is key to the whole equation of ultimate sweetness euphoria...then stir and enjoy. I had 3 bowls - it was that good.

~

Lately, I've been experiencing some weirded out dreams where I actaully wake up in the middle of an actions that I was donig in the dream...2 days ago I was dreaming about some creature that was running wild in this building - I had trapped myself in a room with alot of filing cabinets. This creature worked its way around the duct system and fell right into my hiding spot...I was staring at it and within seconds it leaped at me I ducted - naturally - and it went head first into one of the open cabinets...I got up and started hammering in the cabinet - so that it would close...and at this point I woke up from my dream standing on my bed wailing at the walls...I stopped looked around to make sure no one woke up and slowly put myself back in bed...

To get my mind off from this horrid experience - I switched on the radio to my trusted AM station and listened for something crazy. So get this - This guy had gotten togather with all his rich buddies and they are going to start a society in the most undesireable place to live because Global Warming. He believes - through metaphysical visions - that the world is entering in a stage called 'chaos' - this 'chaos' will eliminate the east and west coasts of North America. And there is going to be a bird flu epidemic, which will OBVIOUSLY run ramped and destroy the human race.

To combat all this he suggests that we all start boosting our immune systems and start to plan to move more south central...and he also said not to count on the government to help...and brush up on your survival skills...oh and its an asset to be an ex-marine :P

Awsome Weirdness

I didn't know there were so many blogging sites out there...*sigh*...my search continues

So I was eating dinner a couple of nights ago...and I mixed two things that I didn't know was possible:

!Chicken and Grapes!

Thats right chicken and grapes - what a awsome combo...the yummy taste of chicken with the pleasent fresh zest of grapes...I'm in love with it.

So sometimes I can't sleep at night so to combat this, I turn on the radio. SIDE NOTE:I just realized is that I can't listen to 'FM' in my room...it has to be 'AM'...I love 'AM'. Whats really awsome about AM is that you get alot of weirdos talking at night - prime example: Art Bell. These guys talk about UFO's, Ghosts, Life on other plantes, etc etc...they talk about it as if it actaully fact. Its facinating but funny at the same time.

Last night a guest was on and he's educating us that there is life on ALL the planets including the moon. In actaul fact there is a huge space station on the moon - but on the other side of it so that we can't see it. And that the whole space station that is being built right now, is a way to distract us from all the other things that are happening. Turns out, we've been so distracted that we've been traveling to Mars since '54, and that life exsist on Mars, but underground. These talks went on for about an hour - I'm still trying to diegest it...if that wasn't weird enough...

Apperently there are millions of earth around the universe...and we have these 'keepers' that keep track of our progress through our DNA and different 'earth like' planets are all at different stages of evolution...and it goes on and on and on...there is a author called - Richard Bird? - his books have been banned by the government, which has led ppl to believe in this kinda stuff...I think the book is called 'Hollow Red somthing' - sorry if i'm being a tad bit vague - but A) I wanted to go back to sleep and B) Its a lil too much to accept all at once if you know what I mean...these guys spit out so much information its rediculous

What the hell is going on?

If this has created any curiosity click HERE and prepare to read alot

Due to some difficulties

This is my fourth attempt to wish everyone a Happy New Year...and to be honest with you because it has taken so long to do so I am offically leaving MSN Spaces cause they suck. Period.

I hope the people at MSN Spaces read this blog along with alot of other bloggers complaining about the same problem. Great pieces of litrature have not - and never will be - publised because of MSN Spaces...you should be proud, so proud that the next published entry will be the link to my NEW blog site...

I bid you all a good night.

ps - no one leaves a comment in the guestbooks anymore....SO Overrated!

Extraction Sucks

I got my right side wisdoms taken out 2 weeks ago and I have to say it was the most traumatic expericence of my life.

I was told that it would take 1/2 hour tops to take both out...I was happy to hear that...90 mins later I wanted to pass out from all the pain...the endless amount of loosening the wisdom - by clamping and going on circles - and taking a pick and trying to wedge it out, I really wanted to just die. My wisdoms were so stubborn that the dentist had to take another X-ray just to make sure what the hell was stopping the top one from coming out (turned out that there is actaully a small tooth tucked in the back blocking it from coming out...geeez). And to make matters more difficult the roots were curled like hooks AND I have a uber super strong jaw - which is kinda good cause I ain't loosing my teeth due to old age...maybe to cavaties though :)~
Because I wasn't knocked out I had to stay awake for the bloody ordeal (no pun intended) And because of that I had to endure this pressure that is created when the wisdom is coming out - there is no amount of freezing that can dull that pain. There were other little complication, but I dont care to go into them right now.

The only good thing that came out of the whole experience is that there was no searious swelling and my new appreciation for apple sauce...not that I didn't like it to begin with.

Overall it sucked.
but I love my dentist cause shes awsome...so it brings it up to OOookay...but deep down it sucked :P

Its amazing how much things change when your wisdoms are out...things like chewing gum...eating chicken...enjoying jello...or even brushing my teeth...everyting is 'gummy' - for example when I chew gum -When I chew on my right side I'm chewing it with my gums,. after the second chew I remind myslef that I no longer have teeth there...it kinda sucks. So bad that I spit out my gum.

Oh and another suckie point - I have to rinse my mouth after Every single meal - snack - munchie - gummie - corn flake - ANYting - cause everyting seems to get stuck back there - its gross.

So to end this horrendous entry I'm now offically scared to take out my other set of wisdoms.

Oh and Merry Christmas Everyone :D
(not so horrendous after all)

Mah Birthday

Today is my birthday...actaully I have 5 mins left before the day becomes yesterday.

This year I actaully made an effort to go out and celebrate my birhtday this year...I actaully got the festivities started on Saturday night only because I was born at 12:45-ish in the am on the 10th.

Special Big Ups go to Sam...If it were not  for you, sir, I don't think anyting would have went down.
The worst part of it all is that there are absolutely NO pictures on this glorious day...maybe its a good thing.

Some highlights include:
All you can eat Sushi for dinnner
Crashing an Engagement party
Saw two guys horribly dressed up like dolls
Walking a dog
Eating breakfast at Cora's
Wearing my contacts for 30 hrs straight

*stupid MSN won't let me post this at the time of the real date so its kinda late my appologies - but really hate on MSN :)~

15 year absence

It has been that long since I've last visited a dentist. I know I know - how could I have not gone for so long?...the truth is it never really crossed my mind to go to one until my wisdoms were giving me trouble. That, and not having any dental insurance really detered me from going. So I finally went to the dentist this past Wednesday. The first thing that I got done was a crap load of x-rays and and elongated teeth cleaning. Other that the cleaning apperatus exploding in my mouth the whole experience was...enchanting. So you must be all now wondering what happens to one who doesn't go the the dentist all this time... The damage: *9 cavaties *4 extractions Other than the nine cavaties I was pretty happy with the results - no searious dental construction needed - meaning no head gear. Whats even better was my new dentist. She was super cool - down to earth - one killer smile and to top it all off she has a great hand shake. So that was my day at the dentist.

Eid Mubarak!

The Holy month of Ramadan has once again come to an end.  On behalf of the Ahmad Family, it gives me great pleasure in wishing each and every one of you and your loved ones a very happy, safe and joyous Eid!  May Allah ( S.W.T) accept all of our Dua’s, Prayers, Deeds and Sacrifices made during the month of Ramadhan.  Let us take sometime to remember all those who could not be here with us to celebrate this joyous occasion and let us also remember all those Brothers and Sisters in need of our Dua’s.

Regards, Salaam.

*Okay so its a copy paste job...sue me*

180 Back Flip

So I'm one of those ppl now that don't update my space as much as I used to...but for good reason.

What I am finding even more troubling is that when I go to other ppls spaces that I've grown fond of - I'm so lost... :(
Its like they've evolved into another person and I'm left in the dust :(
And then there are some where attention is greatly needed. While fasting, I've lost alot of patience when it comes to reading. I would rather sleep/nap/snooze than read these days...anyways...I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm just frustrated with trying to keep myself updated with Spaces.

I do promise this...once Ramadan is over and I get my personal agend in order it'll be like the good ole days...Spaces insomnia...

Thanks Giving - Sushi Styles

Yesterday was the first time in Haroon's History that I have ever experienced fall. Fall in Toronto is usually cold, damp and grey. But yesterday it was like something out of the movies. Crisp, beautiful and the leaves were actaully falling right before out eyes.

I was with Sara...she is so....cool. A great friend - they don't call her Super*Sara for nothing.

We had planned to break our fast togather so we hung out until then - which was tough because we had to kill 2hrs. We went to a park near my house called Mill Pond. My favorite is the lil paths so you can walk in 'circles' and not really know it...so we did that and that proved to not kill time effectively, and also I've found out that playing tag while fasting is not a great way to kill time either :P - it only kills 2 mins.

The best part was when we found this spot where it felt like we were hidden from the world. It was truely a magical experience - It made conversations that much more intense...and the best part was that it killed an hour really fast. And this is where I experienced fall for the every first time.

We then procceed to an all you can eat sushi place...all I can say is that it was instant euphoria :D

Except for their ice cream :P

I'm also proud to say that I'm not the only one who loves ginger...alot. I love piling my sushi with it, as well as wasabi. And for the longest time I thoguht I was the only person who did this 'crazy' thing...turns out Sara has the same love for ginger too!

High 5's all around!!

*Busy Busy*

To Pull Or Not To Pull?

So my wisdoms need pulling out. One is actually wiggling itself out - its pretty damn painful. The problem is that its the month of Ramadan and as a muslim its a big deal.

For those people who don't know...Muslims fast everyday (sunrise to sunset) for a month. No Drink of any sorts - No Eating of any kind. Click HERE for more information.

Here are the exceptions for not fasting:
Your Sick
Its your time of the month
If you have to take medication for whatever reason on a daily basis.

*there maybe more but I just want to get to the point :P

Back to my wisdom teeth...they need to be pulled out...but if I do then I won't able to fast anymore...for some of you, you may be thinking 'whats his problem pull the teeth out get it over with, so you can't fast big lose!' The thing is,it is a big lose. Its the one month in the year where I'm close to God - close to my religion. And even though it may be sad that it takes a holly month to do that, atleast I'm doing it.

:D

So I'm wondering - should I just wait out 3 more weeks and live through the pain OR end my 7 years of perfect months of fasting?
September 25

A Date With Life

I do apologize for those who do come by often that I haven't been very busy when it comes to bloggin - but there is a very good reason why - I got busy...with life :)

So the past couple of weeks have been jammed packed with weirdness, happiness, frustration and eerieness.

The weirdest thing that happened was on Sept 3rd when I caught myself sleep walking at 3am!
I found myself in the bathroom brushing my teeth. I had to be ther for a while because I found tooth paste foam all over my face - all over the counter - all over my cloths - all over the floor...and my teeth were extra squeeky clean.
It took me about an hour just to clean up everything...the bulk of the cleaning was done on my cloths. I actaully just stood there washing my cloths in the sink - when really I should have just changed my cloths :S
So yea, this experience freaked me out. I've never slept walk before in my life - I wonder what triggers sleep walking?

So I've been a lil more proactive when it comes to landing a career oriented job - so I'm pulling all the stops and called all my friends in the sector to hook me up :P
I got one interview - one of four interviews that is...its pretty nerve racking! All this waiting for a phone call. Why can't these ppl just make a decision on the spot? :S

And the absolute eerieness that has happen is when I had a pack of 14 yrs following me in the mall. This has happened before and I'm kinda getting annoyed by it all. Why can't I have a group of 20 someting year olds following me!?!
These girls couldn't stop giggling at me the whole time while I was shopping for some cloths. Okay so you find me attractive - I'm flattered but please leave your stalking at a greater distance.
Maybe its my boyish looks...my great smile...who knows, all I know it has to stop!

So this pretty much sums up Haroon's Current Affaris to date.

I would like to also say Ramadan Mubarak to all the muslim brothers and sisters out there.

The End Of Summer

So in Toronto, we have a something call the CNE - Canadian National Exhibition - or the Ex. It runs every year for about 2 weeks and ends on Labour day. And you know when you hit Labour Day long weekend it marks the end of summer. If you want to know more about it click here

Here are some of the highlights that I would like to share with you guys:

LabourDayattheEx23.jpg

I was at a hat store with Sam and we couldn't resist!

LabourDayattheEx24.jpg

The brown one matches my eyes, no?

LabourDayattheEx33.jpg

Cotton Candy Goodness...

LabourDayattheEx35.jpg

This kid was actaully pouting cause she couldn't have any cotton candy that I was happily devouring (see above)

LabourDayattheEx36.jpg

We were in line to go see The Superdog Show. They are always sold out so we camped out for a while - got bored - started playing Mario 3

LabourDayattheEx38.jpg

Aww look I'm becoming popular...

LabourDayattheEx39.jpg

but this is too funny.

LabourDayattheEx58.jpg

Keeping the ladies safe from any cotton candy freaks out there.

LabourDayattheEx90.jpg

This is a real life sunflower...its taller than me and has a bigger head...I feel so small now :P

the Fireworks marking the end of the Ex. The last 20 seconds, it seemed like the guy just lit up ALL the fireworks at once - it was insane...I dunno about you guys but whenever there is a loub 'BOOM' I blink...so now imagine 100 booming sound in 20 seconds...I haven't blinked so many times that fast - EVER!

Other lil facts about what I did at the Ex:

  • I nearly passed out from eating too much Tiny Tom Donuts...they are addictive!
  • I haven't talked to so many strangers in one day.
  • I passed a kid who kept asking his father 'Can you blow me?' over and over again - lol
  • We spend over 10 mins trying to find cotton candy...nearly gave up - but I kept the hunt going.
  • There is a pen like contraption that zaps away your pain.
  • While waiting in line for over an hour - a lady with a stroller asked if she could bud in - I said no. She was willing to give me her debit information, she was that desperate. But I kept my ground.
  • There is a huge building dedicated to food. There are about 50 different places where you can eat and of the 50 only 2 were health concious. Not including the smoothie booth...which was grossly over priced.
  • I do everything at the Ex except go on their rides. My rule of thumb is that if a ride/rollercoaster is shaking and rattling and its not in Paramount Theme park, then I'm not going on it.
  • I saw a guy getting Henna done on his back saying 'I Love my Mama'. The guy was in his late 30's.

So thats pretty much it.

Blood Type Error

So I went to go donate blood the other day. And as I'm filling out the forms, one of the nurses prints out my info and there, on the top right corner, was a B+ Plasterd in huge BOLD Lettering!

B+!?! - I blurted - as if something went seariously wrong.

B+ - replied the nurse

B+? - I couldn't believe it! This whole time I was parading around telling people I'm B-, but no...I'm B+. It was weird.

The same thing happened to my friend Sara. She was told B- (just like me) and turns out shes B+ too.

Conspiracy? I don't think so. But still left a weird but sweet taste in my mouth...only because I had those jam centre cokies - SO YUMMY!

The Trip: Part TWO

So again I would like to say that the Highway System in America is pretty messed up. It not very user friendly at ALL.

From NJ to NY we were told to take Liberty Bridge. Seemed easy enough, until you got there. there are 4 tunnels to choose from and no signs to tell you where these tunnels will end up. Its like your running away from a 3 headed pitbull (From Haryy Potter) and you have to choose the right tunnel with no magic help...

So naturally we took the wrong tunnel.

To get back on the right street it took us over an hour. New York has a facination with Numbers...It seems all the streets other than Broadway is numbered.

Traffic is horrendous.
People jay walk like no ones business.
There are signs that state if caught honking the driver will be fined $350.
Oh and did I mention the horrendous Highway System :P

Don't get me wrong New York was awsome.

The Cops are so approachable. When we were there, there was a Pakistani Parade happening during the evening time for the main road was blocked - so we had to take all the detours...there was this one police officer that was south asian and while we were waiting for the traffic to continue its flow we started to chat it up in Urdu with him and asking him to let us pass the pylons and for some reason it was so funny that we all were laughing our asses off...
The only thing I was not impressed was that there was this one cop checknig out my sister! I was about to remind him that he was on duty, but before I did I told my sister and she started laughing really hard - she even said:

was it that guy?

yea

I know he was chekcing me out earlier!

I was stunned, but it was funny cause he was a lil skinny guy

Tme Square was absolutely amazing. I could spend days there and not get bored. Everyone at nite is selling something. And at nite time its so beautiful...all the lights and billboards and the people walking around...the city truely never sleeps. :D

There is a Turkish resturant there called Sahara...absolutely amazing food!

I also got to see Shea Stadium - Yankee Stadium - A bunch of bridges - and Where the Twin Towers used to be...there is a feeling of saddness that just comes over you when you go there...

Unfortuneately I did absolutely no shopping - which kinda sucked...which is why I want to go there again soon.

The Trip: Part ONE

My trip to America was very interesting. Our frist stop was to New jersey to attend a wedding and then we headed to New York City to meet a family friend and some limited sight seeing.

The Trip to New Jersey was long and for the most part boring. But what I did notice when crossing the border was that everyone drives like a maniac! All I could think of while we were on the highway passing Harlem was 'Holly shit we're in a Nascar race.' Everyone was Speeding, cuting infront of people like no ones business and every other car had either an American flag or a Nascar number or Both! I'm still shaking my head over it.

We made very few stop going to NJ. The only time we made a pit stop was if someone had to go pee or if my dad wanted coffee which then became stopping at a Starbucks for coffee...cause any other coffee would not do.

We get to New Jersey and we're thinking that finding our hotel would be a sinch. Boy were we wrong. We were in the Union area/ Summerhill(?). The beauty of this area is that everything is off the highway, which makes driving very aggressive. The worst is if you want to go across the road you have to drive 3 miles down - find a degsinated U-Turn - and then drive 3 miles back to where you wanted to go in the first place!

Secondly there is no warning when and where the exit is going to be. Extremely frustrating.

So we FINALLY get to the Holiday Inn and it turns out that the reservation that was suppose to be made was not. The Supervisor/Manager behind the desk was really nice. He not only got us a room to accomodate but he gave us a really good rate for two nites and free breakfast - buffet styles - while we were there for two days. And to make things sweeter The bride took the tab of the hotel. So we stayed in New Jersey for free - except for gas. It was awsome.

Getting to the wedding the next day posed to be a greater challenge than first predicted. What interesting to note is that everytime we need to get directions we found an Indain or a Pakistani guy. Which is comforting cause then you meet a person of the same ethnicity is makes things easier.

So anways, my dad is asking for directions and as they are explaning it my dad says jokingly tells them to hop inot the van and take him there - we all started laughing - and when they find out we're from Toronto Canada they are even more careful with the directions - which is really nice of them.

The second time my dad asked for directs (just to make sure) we bumped into another Pakistani man - again my dads jokingly says to him to hop in the van so we don't get lost and his excuse 'I can't, I'm with my wife.' lol...

Because the Highways don't make any sense to us, we get lost. We drive up to a gas station and there is another South Asian man and when we asked how to get to the hall he actaully got into his car and made us follow him to the street where we had to go that we were desperatly looking for. I can't praise enough about the strangers that we met in NJ.

The Wedding was awsome. It was small and extravegant but not over done. And whats important was that the food was really good. It was in a beautiful hall which made it was perfect. Whats even more perfect was that everything was done by 11pm. You may think that its a bad thing - but its not. The wedding started at 4pm and there was never a dull moment for 7 hours.

Needless to say I was pleasently surprised and I really enjoyed it. As for New Jersey, its boring and the shopping is horrendous. New Jeresy is actaully a lil more expensive than Toronto.

Next stop New York City.
